Ersmark Tunnel

The Ersmark Tunnel is a 1.6 km long tunnel through Fäboberget and Ersmarksberget, forming part of the stretch between Umeå freight yard and Dåva. The tunnel is initially being built for a single track but is already being prepared to accommodate double tracks.

The completed Norrbotnia Line will:

• Halve travel times and improve connections to the rest of Europe
• Link together Sweden’s most densely populated region without daytime rail traffic
• Contribute to sustainable transport and strengthen the region’s infrastructure

The project includes a complete tunnel with a service tunnel, concrete structures, drainage mats, water and sewage systems, as well as the completion of service roads and staging areas.

For the tunnel project, we have had the privilege of supplying rock reinforcement in the form of ribbed steel and PC bolts. In addition, we have delivered packers, grouting pipes, and eventually other drainage materials and our custom-made KTL pipes.
