Henriksdal Wastewater Treatment Plant

Contractor: Frijo & Bygg och Berglaget
Location: Stockholm
Year: 2017-2025

Henriksdal Wastewater Treatment Plant is Sweden’s largest treatment plant (and one of the largest in Europe), treating wastewater from around 1.5 million Stockholm residents – in other words, it is a central part of the capital’s infrastructure.

In a few years, Henriksdal will be one of the most modern wastewater treatment plants in the world, where membrane technology will double its current capacity and produce even cleaner water. Several construction companies are collaborating on the project, with Frijo and Bygg och Berglaget i Stockholm AB handling some of the most complex assignments. The work includes rock reinforcement with mesh, bolts, and shotcrete, as well as wire sawing and hydraulic fracturing to create new utility culverts and technical spaces within the existing facility.

Stockholm Vatten och Avfall is investing SEK 9.2 billion in expanding the wastewater infrastructure.

We at Pretec are supplying rock reinforcement and fastening materials for the project, including PC bolts, PC packers, ribbed steel bolts, and threaded rods.
