Varberg Tunnel

Contractor: Implenia
Location: Varberg
Year: 2019-2025

The West Coast Line is being expanded with double tracks through Varberg and a tunnel beneath the city centre. The project includes approximately nine kilometres of double track, crossings, new bridges, stations, and a freight yard.

A three-kilometre-long rock tunnel is being built beneath the city, where Pretec is supplying a wide range of products for the construction.

In June 2022, a contract was signed for Pretec to deliver the overhead contact line fixings for the entire tunnel. In addition, we are supplying our own manufactured large heavy steel pipes, which are cast into the tunnel roof, as well as drainage bolts. Furthermore, we are providing all the rock reinforcement for the tunnel in the form of PC bolts, along with all bolts for water and frost protection — all fixings in PC-Coat.
