West Link – Subproject Otterhällan
Contractor: Veidekke
Location: Gothenburg
Year: 2024-2029
At the Haga subsection of the West Link project, the Otterhällan subproject is underway, where a 500-metre-long rock tunnel is being constructed. Once completed, the tunnel will consist of double tracks and two service tunnels.
This is without a doubt one of the most confined locations for tunnel construction within the West Link project. The excavation passes several underground structures, such as garages and shelters, which places high demands on precision and safety.
Our customers Bohus Bergsprängning AB, together with the main contractor Veidekke Sverige, began the work by wire sawing the rock at Rosenlund. Before blasting could begin, approximately 10 metres of rock had to be sawn through. Each rock block cut out weighed around 236 tonnes.
We at Pretec Sverige have been entrusted to supply what is needed for rock reinforcement in the project, such as ribbed steel, rock mesh, and associated components.
