West Link – Subsection Korsvägen

To improve train travel in Gothenburg and western Sweden, the “West Link” project has been launched, involving the construction of a new double-track railway tunnel.

The capacity of Gothenburg Central Station will be able to double as regional and commuter trains get their own tracks in a tunnel running beneath central Gothenburg.

NCC and Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG have been commissioned to build the Korsvägen section, valued at SEK 3.8 billion. This section is approximately 3.2 kilometers long, with the rock tunnel consisting of a rail tunnel and a parallel service and rescue tunnel. The new underground Korsvägen Station will feature three entrances, one platform, and two tracks. Preparations will also be made for two additional tracks and a new platform.
