- Today, rock excavations are carried out at greater depths than ever before, both for mines and road tunnels. To ensure safety in environments with high rock stresses, bolts are required that can withstand both rapid load impacts from rock bursts and large deformations. Pretec’s Dynamic Rock Bolt is an energy-absorbing bolt designed to meet this need. To evaluate the energy-absorbing capacity of the Dynamic Rock Bolt, dynamic tests have been conducted at Canmet Mining in Canada. Both the threaded and smooth sections were dynamically tested with good results. Upon request, Pretec’s Dynamic Rock Bolt can be supplied with an expandable anchor wedge for cement-grouted boreholes.
